Books

Song books from Sarah Morgan

Songs for groups

Mainly traditional folk songs arranged in three or four part harmony, plus notes on performance. The ideal resource for small a-capella groups or community choirs.

Book 1 "View the Land"

includes arrangements of the following traditional songs: All Things Are Quite Silent, April Morning, The Blacksmith, Blow the Winds I-oh, Bold William Taylor, The Cruel Mother, Greenwood Laddie, O Good Ale, The Penny Wager, The Water is Wide. It also includes Ryegrass and Clover (Sarah’s setting of a Cecily Fox Smith poem) and Sarah’s own compositions Keep You in Peace, View the Land and two rounds, Welcome the Summer and Round for Ana. “Not only are the arrangements eminently singable, they also remain true to the songs themselves. I welcome and recommend this book” Eddie Upton, Folk South West

Book 2 "Cottage Garden Trees"

includes the following traditional songs: The Bold Fisherman, Christmas song (from the Copper's repertoire), Good Morning Lords and Ladies, King Henry's three sons, The Laily Worm, Light from the Lighthouse, Low Down in the Broom, Lowlands of Holland, Northamptonshire May Song, She's Like the Swallow, Thousands or More. It also includes Sarah’s own compositions Cottage Garden Trees, Autumn Round and Sleepy Round.

Songs for the solo singer
Put the Stars to Flight

Seventeen of Sarah Morgan’s songs and musical settings (plus two tunes). NB these are set for solo voice, not arranged in harmony. “This new volume is a goldmine for the singer, for it includes some of Sarah’s best-known writing –from the lovely anthem Keep You In Peace to the humorous Room At The Top - an attractive and well-produced volume to add to the collection of any singer or connoisseur of quality song.” Folk Roundabout
